NPORS N138 telehandler suspended loads test, on site

Ray Walters, an NPORS plant machinery assessor, carries out the NPORS N138 telehandler with suspended loads test at your premises, on your own machine. NPORS calls a telehandler a telescopic handler, and Ray covers the whole of the UK from Northampton on the M1.

What the N138 telehandler suspended loads test covers

Across the categories covered by the NPORS learning outcomes this page draws on, the assessments follow a similar shape: safety law and the operator’s duties, the manufacturer’s handbook, the main parts and controls, PPE, pre-use and running checks and reporting defects, getting on and off, starting, stopping and travelling, checks of the work area, the work itself, loading and unloading for transport, and shutting down and making the machine secure.

The NPORS learning outcomes this page draws on do not include N138, so the detail for this category is not set out here.

Ray will confirm exactly what the N138 assessment covers when you call, before anything is booked. On the same call, Ray will confirm what you need in place on the day, including which telehandler will be used, any lifting accessories and the space needed on site.

Experienced worker test or novice course

If you already operate a telehandler day to day, the experienced worker test is the usual route. If you are new to the machine, a novice course is the starting point, and Ray will confirm which fits when you call. NPORS, not Ray, set which card applies, the traditional NPORS card or the CSCS red or blue card.

Experienced worker test

For operators with real experience on a telehandler. Assessed on your own machine at your own site.

Novice course

For operators who are new to the machine.

How an on-site N138 test is arranged

1

Call Ray

Phone 07984 357997 and tell Ray how many operators you need assessing, where the site is and which telehandler you use.

2

Confirm and book

Ray confirms what you need in place and agrees a date for the visit.

3

On-site assessment

The assessment takes place at your site, on your own machine, carried out by Ray himself.

4

The card or certificate

Where the assessment is successful, the card or certificate is applied for through NPORS. NPORS set the card rules, not Ray.
