What the N100 test covers

N100 is the NPORS category for using an excavator as a crane, that is, to lift a suspended load.

The NPORS learning outcomes of June 2019 do not include N100, so this page does not list the N100 tasks one by one.

For the machine categories those outcomes do cover, NPORS set out the same shape. It is how NPORS describe those categories, not a statement of what Ray’s N100 assessment covers:

  • Safety law and operator duties
  • The manufacturer’s handbook
  • Main parts and controls
  • PPE
  • Pre-use and running checks and reporting defects
  • Getting on and off
  • Starting, stopping and travelling
  • Checking the work area
  • The work itself
  • Loading and unloading for transport
  • Shutting down and making the machine secure

Ray will confirm exactly what the N100 assessment covers for your machine and your site when you call, before a date is agreed.
