What Is NPORS Certification?

NPORS Operator Cards – Two Options Available
Depending on your requirements and the site you’re working on, there are two types of NPORS cards available:
- NPORS Traditional Card
- Suitable for employers and sites not requiring CSCS affiliation
- Ideal for in-house plant operations, private construction projects, recycling sites and waste management facilities
- Issued upon successful NPORS testing with proof of practical and theoretical competency
- NPORS CSCS Card (Red & Blue Cards)
- NPORS CSCS Red Trained Operator Card: For newly trained candidates (valid for 2 years)
- NPORS CSCS Blue Competent Operator Card: For experienced workers who have completed the Experienced Worker Test (EWT) and NVQ/SVQ Level 2 in the relevant category (valid for 5 years)
- Accepted on all CSCS-approved construction sites nationwide
- Requires passing the CITB Health, Safety & Environment (HS&E) test within 2 years of application

What You Need Before Applying
To gain your NPORS operator card, you will typically need:
- Successful completion of an NPORS on-site test
- For CSCS cards: A valid CITB Health, Safety & Environment (HS&E) test (within the last 2 years)
- For Blue cards: An NVQ Level 2 (or higher) in the relevant category
